This is a job for a Tax Senior position with the company located in Hattiesburg, MS area.

Job Summary:

The Tax Senior position requires an advanced technical aptitude and performs some supervisory responsibilities.  A Tax Senior must be able to handle complex assignments (i.e., return preparation, review, and tax research), begin to learn the complete process of managing all tasks regarding client work, and take a lead role in reviewing the work of less experienced staff.  The Tax Senior plays an active role in the liaison to client management including appropriate coordination with internal upper management team members.

Responsibilities: Conducts and supervises tax preparation work. Provides Intern and entry level staff supervision accountability. Monitors workload on a weekly basis to ensure work for the coming week. Assists in the completion of all financial statements, tax returns and special services. Assists in reviewing reports, statements, and returns processed by the administrative staff. Assists in preparing and reviewing work papers, financial statements, and tax returns before submission for further review. Develops opportunities to provide additional services to clients. Continues developing a network for future practice development opportunities. Assists in planning engagements to achieve quality goals and reduces time required to perform an engagement. Stays familiar with pronouncements from the AICPA and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). Begins to research accounting and tax issues as appropriate. May participate in a variety of Firm's recruitment activities. Monitors billable hours and compares to target billable hour goals on a regular basis. May assist other departments with assigned projects as needed. Maintains the required CPE for firm and licensing requirements. Complies with the professional and Firm requirements (e.g., employee handbook requirements, time entry procedures), quality control document requirement, confidentiality requirements related to client, proposal, personnel, and job-related information. Attends and actively engages in training sessions or meetings as required. Maintains a positive attitude and be receptive to feedback.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 150 hours of college credit is required. CPA designation is preferred. Must be eligible and planning to sit for CPA exam. 2-6+ years of relevant tax experience. Experience in a public accounting or professional services firm environment is preferred. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations is required.  This includes being aware of relevant court cases and other IRS announcements and authorities. Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism and maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills. Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in business and technical environments. Professionally and appropriately communicate with a diverse group of individuals. Able to work in a highly organized manner within a fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment. Must demonstrate technical proficiency and the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level with respect to the Microsoft Office Suite of products with an emphasis in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills, or similar software applications
