As a part of OptumCare, the largest network of medical groups in the nation, MedExpress is seeking a Full-time Independent Nurse Practitioner or Independent Physician Assistant to support our East Houston center with occasional coverage in Pasadena - 7 miles away.

Position Highlights:

  • Open 8am - 8pm, 7 days per week

  • Providers typically work 12 hour shifts

  • Average patient load = 3-4 patients per hour

  • Full licensed medical team and support staff

  • Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Suturing (some facial)

  • Splinting

  • Initial interpretation with digital X-Rays

  • Injections - (MA may not be available)

  • STD’s

  • Incisions and drainage

  • Pediatric care

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the ANCC/AANP or certified as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA

  • Clinical experience working in at least one of the following:

  • 2+ years in Family Medicine

  • 1.5+ years in Urgent Care

  • 1+ years in Emergency Medicine

  • Must have experience treating patients across multiple age groups

  • Must have experience suturing, splinting, and reading x-rays within the last year

  • Must be CPR certified (or willing to obtain prior to start)

  • DOT certification (or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of employment)

  • Willing and able to assist at other center locations in the area
