Job Summary:

Water/Wastewater System Operator of Record IS responsible for daily operation, Preventive Maintenance (PM), and repair of the water treatment and wastewater disposal systems. Utilize computers and software to operate and maintain water wells, lift stations and associated SCADA system. Ensures accuracy of daily record keeping and maintains records and logs in compliance with Federal, state, and Air Force guidelines. Maintains, installs, and repair all aspects of the water and wastewater system. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operation upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours.

  • Monitors and adjusts Water Plant, Lift Station and Pool Equipment, ensuring operation guidelines are followed.

  • Starts, operates, and secures Water Wells, Towers, Lift Stations, Swimming Pool and all associated auxiliary equipment essential to water treatment, production, operation, storage and wastewater removal.

  • Maintains cleanliness of Water Production Facilities, Towers, Lift Stations and associated facilities.

  • Ensures efficient and economical operation of station water production and wastewater removal equipment.

  • Maintains daily logs and paperwork as required.

  • Advises the Utility Supervisor of the status of water production equipment, systems, pool and wastewater lift stations.

  • Potentially works weekends, holidays and related ride out teams during base closures to ensure adequate representation is on hand in the event of an emergency.

  • Maintains a safe workplace environment, ensuring safety is the highest priority.

  • Communicates professionally, both orally and in writing with the Water Owner, State Health Department, military, and other agency officials.

  • Performs other duties as requested and/or required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

This role may require that company vehicles are driven.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Class D or higher Water Certification issued by Mississippi Health Department.

  • State issued driver’s license.

  • Wastewater Operator License.

  • Ability to troubleshoot panels, motors, pumps, chemical treatment system, and electrical.

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite and other software systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3 years of Water Treatment Plant or related technical school highly desirable.

  • Commercial driver’s license with HAZMAT certification.
