Responsibilities

  • Oversee annual audit planning across Engineering and Research, by partnering with the engineering and business organizations to ensure that key risks will be addressed by the audit plan.

  • Influence executive management as a trusted advisor to clarify risks to their business and where there may be potential blind spots.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management to highly empowered audit team, developing both managers and individual contributors, and providing appropriate guidance and training opportunities. Review audit team performance and provide technical and quality oversight.

  • Direct and continually develop a world-class audit function, optimized to effectively and efficiently use available resources to achieve Internal Audit objectives.

  • Ensure adherence to the professional standards of the IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) and other relevant industry or regulatory standards.

  • Cultivate an environment where team members feel included, valued, and are inspired to do their best work. Build technical and business acumen, inclusive culture, and risk mindset across the team.

  • Provide oversight on audit execution, ensuring that it focuses on key risks, including technical, to Microsoft.

  • Ensure clear and concise audit reporting. Analyze and advise management on whether their planned actions will mitigate identified risks. For example, reviewing audit reports and management responses. Reviewing team's audit findings to provide comments on quality against audit objectives when needed.

  • Leverage internal partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals and increase business knowledge. For example, partner with and leverage the work of other Audit Risk and Compliance teams such as Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance and Business Conduct Investigations.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Knowledge of internal control standards or frameworks (IIA Standard/ COSO Framework) or other frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST, COBIT, etc.

  • Professional certification such as CISSP, CISA, CPA, CIPT, etc.

Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
