Overview
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director
SUPERVISES: No employees
STATUS: Non Exempt
SCHEDULE: Seasonal full time, 35-40 hours based on program needs for the duration of the seven week program.
FUNCTION: The Day Camp Counselors are responsible for providing the campers with a safe enriching and fun program. The counselors are the primary care givers and program leaders for the campers or program participants. It is expected that the counselor will actively participate with the children, They will also be expected to assist the children with activities including dressing for the pool or using the rest room as the participants’ disabilities require.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 17 years of age
1 years of experience with persons with disabilities
Must be safety conscious
Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly, in English
Must have the ability to work and relate well with individuals with varying needs
Must be able to handle difficult situations/confrontations in a professional manner
