C-2 Utility Contractors Safety Manager in Vancouver, Washington

Overview and Essential Functions

Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? Then you may have found your next career move. We’re looking for a Safety Manager to join our team in Vancouver and help connect America. The Safety Manager will e responsible for ensuring all work aspects are in line with established company and customer specifications. This will involve doing inspections of employees and subcontractors in the area.

What you’ll do:

  • Train and conduct qualifications for equipment

  • Conduct weekly safety meetings on assigned topics

  • Conduct monthly safety committee meetings

  • Monitor crews through visits to ensure they are following safety procedures and protocols

  • Make sure employees are utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment

  • Counsel and review safety problems with employees and managers

  • Help employees use and load safety programs on electronic devices, ie: iPhone, iPads, etc.

  • Ensure that the Company Safety Program is followed on each jobsite they inspect and that there are no unsafe conditions or acts at each jobsite

  • Ensure required OSHA and DOT paperwork are company approved and OSHA compliant.

  • Some overnight travel may be required

  • Conduct safety inspections, gate checks and Job Safety Observations (JSO) at each jobsite visited

  • Conduct new hire orientation and safety training

  • Assist in management of and review of claims

  • Help manage, review and coach employees on DriveCam events

  • Conduct Headway driver training

Qualifications

Who we are looking for:

  • Knowledge of OSHA and Safety regulations, and the ability to become certified

  • Intermediate level computer and mobile device skills

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements

  • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Needs the ability to plan, prioritize and organize effectively; and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all staff. This position requires the ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and re-prioritize daily workload and work with minimum supervision and the ability to meet deadlines, establish deadlines, and to prioritize deadlines.

  • Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practice problems or resolve issues.

  • Hold a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
